Passphrases are the New Password!

We are told to make passwords that are complex, long and unique for every account. While this advice is correct, it is incredibly hard to remember a strong password for every single service we use, so we tend to repeat them, or change the last few characters. Attackers can either guess the password or gather it from a data breach and have access to many of your accounts.

A new way to think of passwords is the pass-PHRASE. Instead of a jumble of letters and symbols, choose a string of words or a movie quote you always remember. It will allow you to get a long password that is also memorable and unique. This way if a password does get guessed or breached, it only affects one account and the likelihood is much lower.
